Our Story
While studying music education at Brigham Young University, Allyssa dreamed of creating a studio that offered not just private instruction but group lessons for children. These group lessons would be based on a holistic approach to education, focusing on developing the whole child (emotionally, socially, physically, etc.) and not just creating mindless, piano-playing machines. Mountain Shadow Music is the beginning of that dream. Allyssa's instruction is based on a comprehensive approach to music that provides students with experiences in all aspects of music (performing, composing, improvising, music theory, listening, music history); helping students to be lifelong musicians in whatever way they choose. Allyssa strives to make each lesson a joyful learning experience by encouraging students to problem-solve and explore new ideas instead of just following instruction. It is our hope that you will consider Mountain Shadow Music for your child's musical study.
Sincerely, Mountain Shadow Music
